Not less than N5.1 billion has been collected
by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at Seme Border Command as at the
end of August 2012, out of its N9.6 billion target for this year.
Erstwhile Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Border Command, Comptroller Sadiq Sahabi disclosed this while handing over to his successor, Comptroller Abdul Saleh Othman.
He expressed dismay that the revenue generated by the command was affected by the Nigeria Labour Congress/Trade Union Congress strike in January and lull in import activities earlier in the year, and explained that during the period, importers and agents failed to come forward to process their importations.
Othman however expressed optimism in meeting the revenue target given to the command by Customs Headquarters, Abuja, and solicited the co-operation of officers of the command in meeting the objective of the service and the six point agenda of the Controller General Customs, Alhaji Inde Dikko Abdullahi.
